He is trustworthy. He only speaks God’s truth.

How Does the Holy Spirit Encourage You?
He Gives You Life
Romans 8:11 NIV “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives within you. In the same manner, He will give life to you.
Romans 8:11 NIV “Those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment. Because of what Christ Jesus has done, you are free. You are now controlled by the law of the Holy Spirit who gives you life. The law of the Spirit frees you from the law of sin that brings death.
The Holy Spirit frees you from sin that brings death. He gives you life.
He Empowers You
Acts 1:8 NIV “ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Ephesians 3:16 NIV “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,”
Our job after becoming a believer in Jesus Christ is to witness to others and lead them to the Lord. We are not capable without the power of the Holy Spirit.
How wonderful it is to know that when we reach out to others, we have the Holy Spirit that speaks through us. He is the influencer who brings them to salvation in Jesus Christ.
Ever feel nervous about speaking to someone about the Lord? No need, speak what the Holy Spirit says, and your nervousness will go away. In fact, you will have joy.
Shows You God’s Love
Romans 5:5 NIV “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
The Holy Spirit shows us God’s love. Walking with His help, enables the love and blessings of the Lord to flow.

The Holy Spirit Gives You Assurance of Salvation
Romans 8:16 NIV “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.“
When you believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit. He is the deposit guaranteeing your inheritance.
When you become concerned about your salvation, the Holy Spirit is there to help you to become confident again that you are a child of God.
If you are having doubts, make sure you have accepted as your Savior.
Many times doubts come because of sin in our lives. Confession can clear those doubts.
Satan can create doubts to keep you from living for the Lord. Ask the Lord to protect you from Satan’s lies.
He Gives You Hope
Romans 15:13 NIV “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
When you become overwhelmed in struggles, the Holy Spirit gives you power to hope again. When you realize your hope is weak, go to the Lord and tell Him how you feel. The Holy Spirit will refresh you and fill you with hope.
The key here is trust that your hope will be renewed.
How He Teaches You
He Transforms You
Romans 12:2 NIV “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Part of the Holy Spirit’s job is to teach us not to conform to the ways of the world. He renews our minds, which transforms us into the image of Jesus Christ.
As you read God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will point out how you can avoid conforming to the world. Ask the Lord for guidance.
When your mind is focusing on what satisfies the flesh, you are not able to grow spiritually. Realizing God is eager to help you in weakness is a big step to growth in Him.
The Holy Spirit Reveals Truth
John 16:13 NIV “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
The Holy Spirit teaches you about truth. Through His guidance you can learn to discern whether there is truth in what someone says about scripture.
You should be alert to the truth so errors can be exposed and dealt with. People can be led away from Jesus Christ because of false prophets.
Knowing God is the truth encourages us. He cannot lie, therefore you can trust His promises.
He Helps Us in Prayer
Romans 8:26 NIV “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
Have you ever gone to the Lord in prayer, and nothing would come out? Or, just a jumble of words? I have. That’s probably why you feel like prayer is hard.
God is not concerned with a great speaker, but with the heart of the speaker. Tell Him in your own words.
Truth is, the Holy Spirit turns our mutterings into eloquent words the Lord understands. When you are walking in the Spirit, He knows what you want to say and He loves expressing that to God.
The Holy Spirit Interprets God’s Word
1 Corinthians 2:10-12 ESV “these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.”
Don’t be afraid of reading the Bible. The Holy Spirit was given to you to enable you to understand the Scriptures.
Like spiritual growth, understanding God’s Word takes time. It requires daily reading and meditation. Like anything else that is valuable, it doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it takes a lifetime.
Prayer is always a good idea to do before reading the Bible. Ask the Lord for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in understanding Scripture.
He Enables You to Produce Fruit
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
This is a very familiar passage but do you know what these are used for? Yes, we want to produce these so our witness is strong.
Why do these make us strong? Not just to be nice to others, but actually witness. When around someone you have just met, using kindness can get their attention. Faithfulness is used as you witness to them because of your love for them and your Savior. You are being faithful to His calling.
You cannot truly produce these fruits unless you are walking in the Spirit.
